In our little apartment, which we affectionately called the sky cottage, we sat 38 stories high with incredible views of lake Michigan. Our lease there was supposed to be for only one year. It turned into a four year stay.
We searched every weekend all summer long, for a home… four summers in a row. Looking back, we now see what we couldn’t see then. But God saw it. He was in it with us. He knew what was coming and He knew that we needed to be right where we were for a time. We had no idea that our temporary dwelling would serve as a landing for us and provide us with a four block walk to the treatment I would be needing. God put us in the right place at the right time with the right people. He allowed me to go through that treatment as He healed my body and He healed my heart and mind through an intense season, as I clung to Him for life and to His words which are “Life to those who find them and health to all their flesh.” (Proverbs 4:22 NKJV)
Our sky cottage became our cocoon. A place of safety while a beautiful transformation was taking place. Yes, God – always the same. Me – forever changed!
